As we step into 2026, we are deeply grateful for the growing community that continues to support and shape MA Mom Advocates (MAMA). This season reflects a period of strengthening our programs, expanding partnerships, and advancing our mission to build more equitable maternal health systems rooted in community leadership, dignity, and justice.
From welcoming new board leadership to preparing for critical funding opportunities, we are excited to share important updates and next steps as we continue this work together.
π Board Updates
We are thrilled to welcome Gina Josette Rivera as the newest member of the MAMA Board of Directors!
Gina brings experience in organizational development, productivity systems, and strategic planning. Her passion for equity-centered leadership and sustainable systems will help guide MAMA as we scale our impact and strengthen our internal operations. We are so grateful to have her wisdom, care, and leadership at the table.
Our Board of Directors now includes:
Keturaβh Edwards-Robinson β Maternal health professional specializing in perinatal care and culturally responsive family support.
Brian Worrell β Boston City Councilor for District 4, champion for Black and Brown empowerment, housing justice, and community investment.
SundΓ© W. Daniels β Community organizer and nonprofit leader with deep expertise in program development and advocacy.
Kate Lena β Public health leader with extensive experience in reproductive health and program management.
Gina Josette Rivera β Strategic operations and organizational development leader focused on equity-driven systems building.
β¨ Together, this incredible group of leaders is helping guide MAMA into its next phase of growth, sustainability, and deeper community impact.
βπΎ Grants & Partnerships β Mind the Gap RFR
MAMA is currently applying for the Mind the Gap Request for Responses (RFR) to expand our community-based maternal health advocacy and support services across Boston.
As part of this work, we are actively seeking community advocates in Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan who are deeply rooted in their neighborhoods and passionate about supporting birthing people and families.
We are looking to collaborate with advocates who:
Have lived experience and strong community connections
Are passionate about maternal health, birth equity, and reproductive justice
Have experience supporting families navigating complex systems
Are interested in part-time, grant-funded advocacy roles

In 2026, MAMA is deepening our commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and community-rooted maternal health advocacy.
Our focus areas include:
Perinatal mental health and emotional wellness support
Advocacy for families navigating healthcare, housing instability, and social services
Support for parents impacted by substance use and mental health challenges
Community-based navigation and peer advocacy
Building sustainable systems of care rooted in dignity and trust
We believe meaningful change happens through strong relationships, community partnerships, and safe, accessible systems of care, and we remain committed to supporting families throughout their perinatal journeys.
