MA Mom Advocates (MAMA) is a nonprofit organization offering free, culturally affirming perinatal advocacy and care coordination for birthing and postpartum people across Massachusetts. While MAMA’s work began on Cape Cod, we are actively expanding services in the Boston area — specifically Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan — and are working to secure dedicated advocacy staff to support families in these communities.

Our long-term vision is to expand services to communities across Massachusetts where maternal health disparities persist, and ultimately to support families nationwide as resources allow. We intentionally focus on areas with the greatest need — often referred to as “maternal health deserts” — where access to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care is limited.

MAMA centers the lived experiences of Black families, Indigenous people native to Massachusetts, people of color, and LGBTQ+ communities, ensuring care rooted in dignity, cultural understanding, and trust.

Our Perinatal Support Advocates provide compassionate, relationship-based support, helping participants navigate healthcare, behavioral health, recovery services, housing, public benefits, and other systems, while also offering parenting support and guidance through pregnancy and postpartum transitions — always at your pace.
